SB was home minding his own business playing Xbox with his friends when the police came busting into his house. The police searched the residence and found a bunch of cannabis plants growing in the attic. The police claimed they heard shots fired and were justified in searching SB’s house. They also claimed SB gave them permission. SB was in big trouble facing IDOC time plus he had a prior and was extendable. He explained that he was threatened and forced into signing the consent to search form. We filed a motion to quash. During the motion we were able to show that the police were lying and did indeed coerce SB into signing the form. The judge granted our motion to quash and suppress and the State was forced to dismiss the case.
